Thadie – silence can kill, talk about it

Thinking African lady

I’m South African and was diagnosed in 2008, when I got an HIV test before I got married. We found out that both me and my partner were HIV positive. It is such a scary thing, but I’ve helped myself through faith and healthy living. I always try to stay positive and try to shout out stress and other things that can make my situation worse.

Importantly for me, I SPOKE ABOUT IT, as silence sometimes kills. It’s how I’ve managed all these years and lived my normal life.

This short but sweet story from Thadie shows that everybody has their own way to cope with a positive diagnosis. It’s important to find what works for you. See our page on Sharing Your Diagnosis for more information.
