Crystal - getting caught up in the moment

Photos are used for illustrative purposes. They do not imply health status or behaviour.

We were both 17 at the time, and we had just graduated high school. After 4 years of friendship, we decided to go out. It was about 1 month into the relationship – specifically one day before Valentine's Day.

Sex was completely unplanned, we just kinda went with it, but it didn't feel awkward or anything because we were very comfortable with each other. We did not use a condom, because it was unplanned. I did not bleed however it did hurt a bit, but after it felt ok. It was all going well when we heard a noise and almost got busted. So I guess I lost it but didn't actually finish? I don't know.

I am now 18 and we are still together. I am happy that I waited because I believe he is the right guy, we are very in love! As an aside, I went and got myself checked out and everything, so it was OK this time, but I do highly recommend a condom because I was worried!

What we say: It’s completely natural to get caught up in our emotions – it’s what makes us human! With that in mind, it’s always a good idea to be prepared and keep condoms somewhere useful, even if you don’t think anything is going to happen. Everything worked out fine for Crystal, but she could have saved herself unnecessary stress. For more information, check out our Am I ready for sex? page.
