Asia and the Pacific 90-90-90 progress

In 2019, 75% of people living with HIV in Asia and the Pacific were aware of their status. Among those diagnosed with HIV, 80% were on treatment of which 91% were virally suppressed.

Myanmar 90-90-90 progress

UNAIDS estimates there were 240,000 people living with HIV in Myanmar in 2019, of these 76% were on treatment and 72% virally suppressed.

Asia and the Pacific: Change in new HIV infections by country, 2010-2018

Overall Asia and the Pacific is making progress in reducing new HIV infections, with a 9% decline between 2010 and 2018. However, this is not universal across the region: some countries have seen a much steeper decrease, while infections have increased significantly in others.

Myanmar: Elimination of mother-to-child transmission, 2010-2018

Myanmar’s prevention of mother-to-child transmission programme has been successful in increasing the number of pregnant women living with HIV who are on treatment. However, there is still a need to better integrate early infant diagnosis into post-birth care.
