Men living with HIV

Antony

I am a 42-year-old Italian guy from Staten Island NY. I have been living with this disease for 10 years going on 11. I was diagnosed in 1996 and from 1996-2000 I was in so much denial I ran the streets as I had before smoking crack and just wanting to get high and higher, because I thought if I was going to die, I was going to die happy and high. So I thought.

My gilfriend and i tested positive in 2008 when she was 7 months pregnant. Our children, daughter is now turning five years old while our son is turning one year old this year and are both negative. We are both on meds and doing fine and looking forward to see our grandchildren.

Miles

I'm 21 years old and I was exposed to the virus a week before my 21st birthday. I used to be very selective in having sex and would do it only with protection. But one open scar took my health away. I feel guilty and angry for what happened to me, and I thought to myself, why life is so unfair? Redirect my frustration with injustice and unfairness and channel it into a drive to fight injustice and unfairness. Alleviate suffering wherever you can. Today we are struggling with HIV, but I promise soon there will be a cure for it.

Manish

i m Manish. I can to know about my HIV status when I was in Dubai & medical test was required for visa extension. That was 6th August 2008. I was expecting my promotion in next 6 month of 1 lac per month.. & now getting 20000 only in India...no one is ready to give job to any HIV+ guy.. its too ridicules.

I was diagnosed in 1996 with AIDS. From 1996-2000 I was in so much denial I ran the streets as I had before smoking crack and shooting crystal meth and just wanting to get high and higher, because I thought if I was going to die, I was going to die happy and high. I am happy and yes even proud to say that I have been clean from the drugs of my choice for 6 going on 7 years and have been an HIV/AIDS Outreach Worker, Educator and Test Counselor for the same number of years and still am. It is now 2013, 48 years of age and 17 years that I am living with this illness. I am in control of it. It has no control over me.

I am 27 years old, and I found out today that I have HIV. It took me awhile to digest the information. Reading the stories on here definetly help and it makes me feel less alone, so thank you everyone who shared their story.

It hasn't been easy telling of my condition to anyone not even my family but am looking for a wife of a similar status to take care of each other coz the conditions are at time hard n unbearable.
