Our normal office hours are 9 - 5 (GMT) Monday to Friday. Our office is currently closed for the Christmas holidays, and we reopen on Friday January 2nd.

Help, Advice and Questions

AVERT.org contains a great deal of HIV / AIDS information, and you should be able to find the answers to most questions you might have on our site.

If you would like to know something about sex, puberty, contraception or pregnancy, please visit our teen or sex sections
If you have a problem and you need to speak to someone, our help and advice page can direct you to helplines and other websites which give information, advice and help.
If you are thinking of a career in the field of HIV and AIDS, or you would like to find out about work experience, internships or volunteering, our work and careers page should be able to point you in the right direction.

If you are researching the African AIDS epidemic, our AIDS in Africa page is probably the best place to start. You can also find answers to many common questions in our two Africa Q&A pages. We have statistics on the numbers infected by HIV in Africa and many other useful pages in our Africa section.

You might also like to try our search page. Type in the keywords that you need to know about - the answer to your question may already be here.

If you still can't find the answer to your question then send us an email and we'll try and answer it for you. All enquiries are confidential.

PLEASE NOTE: AVERT is an AIDS charity, and as such much of our time is spent answering enquiries from those with serious concerns about HIV and AIDS. Sadly this means we cannot answer general questions about sex. If what you're worried about isn't a HIV or AIDS issue, try our help page for links to people who will be able to answer your query.

Printed educational materials

If you are looking for educational materials, AVERT has booklets and quizzes that you can download from the website, as well as a page to help you find other booklets and materials. You might also find the pages in our education section of use.

Most material on the site is the copyright of AVERT.org, although some parts (photos, for example) may be owned by other organizations. Anything which is owned by someone else will have a statement on or near it saying who the owner is. Please don't print out and copy chunks of the site. We are a charity and we work hard to produce this information. If you would like to reproduce any of the information, graphics or photos on the site, there are important legal reasons why you will need to have permission first.

Funding

AVERT provides funding for HIV/AIDS projects in Southern Africa. At present we particularly wish to provide more funding for HIV/AIDS work in South Africa, Zambia, Uganda, Lesotho, Malawi, and Swaziland.

If you wish to ask us for a grant then please email us at info@avert.org with an outline description of what you would like to do and what it will cost. The application needs to come from an organisation in Southern Africa.

Please note that we cannot provide funding for people attending conferences or training courses.
